This is the story that ensured I’d never develop any trust in media news again.
April, 2018. One of the last frantic attempts by American media to drum up jingoistic fever for invading Syria. Bashar Al-Assad is accused of using sarin gas on Syrian civilians. A CNN reporter sniffs a backpack at a camp, and claims to smell the nerve agent. Sarin is completely colorless and odorless if pure. Even if there was impure sarin used in an attack, the reporter would be still be dead from touching and inhaling the nerve agent.
As much as woke culture and cancellation culture is a real thing, I always cringe when people use those terms because it sounds like a lazy boomer talking point. “Woke culture gone mad” or “they’re gonna cancel me for this.” Instead, I prefer to simply make references to esoteric occultism. Out with the “woke culture is trying to cancel Donald Trump” and in with the “we’re living in a large scale humiliation ritual and mainstream politics is just one of many vessels thru which they keep your mind captive.”
there’s a word for this it’s on the tip of my tongue…
This is being deliberately misrepresented.
Florida is passing a bill to give the death penalty to proven child rapists, not those convicted for indecent exposure, which is what Drag will fall under.
And something tells me the law regarding drag and minors only relates to drag being intentionally performed in front of minors…
In any space minors may be present, no schools, libraries, public spaces, etc.
The level to which people have no idea whats actually happening is genuinely staggering.
Like, sometimes people hear something wrong, or just learn the wrong thing. that’s been normal for a long time. but the level of blind conformation bias behind this stuff is mind blowing.
I had someone at my work trying to convince me that they made crossdressing a felony in Florida. Like, no context, no anything. Just crossdressing is a felony, somehow.
When I asked them how the law defined crossdressing, and asked them to show it to me, they just kind of blue screened. I didn’t disagree with them directly, I just said I was interesting in seeing how that was interpreted. I think they were forced to realize that they couldn’t answer the most fundamental questions about their wild claims they swallowed whole and uncritically.
I hope they learned something from that. But I think they only learned to not try and use me as an echo wall, not to question their hot takes they got from the view or whatever credible sources they travel, sadly.
I love how leftists suddenly believe in the slippery slope as soon as it comes to executing child rapists. Just absolutely amazing.
This isn’t even a slippery slope argument. It’s just straight up hallucinating.
